"Bayards Court completely changed my perception of what a care home could be"

News Bayards Court

I recently stayed at Bayards Court for a short break over the Bank Holiday weekend. I’ll admit that I was apprehensive beforehand. I have always been fairly independent, enjoy a good standard of living and wasn’t sure how I would feel about staying in a care home, even for a few days.

I needn’t have worried. From the moment I arrived, Bayards Court completely changed my perception of what a care home could be. It felt more like staying in a beautiful hotel; the surroundings are stunning, but more importantly, I was able to continue enjoying the things that are important to me.

The food was exceptional and the chef is extremely talented – every meal was something to look forward to. I had my hair done and enjoyed a facial during my stay, all included, and there was a real sense that I could spend my time as I chose rather than having to fit into a particular routine.

The care staff were wonderful – warm, attentive and genuinely lovely people. Nothing was too much trouble, and although I knew support was there whenever I needed it, I never felt that my stay was defined by receiving care.

My family had complete peace of mind knowing I was safe and well looked after, while I was able to relax and enjoy the weekend.

I came away genuinely amazed by the experience. Bayards Court didn’t feel like my idea of a care home at all. It showed me that receiving care doesn’t have to mean compromising on your independence, your choices or the way you like to live. Everyone involved should be very proud of what they have created.

I look forward to booking again next year!
