Kurtis Elliott did not begin his career in care. With a background in hospitality, he built his skills around service, connection and creating memorable experiences. “As soon as I applied, Justine, the home commissioning manager, noticed I use a manual wheelchair and asked if I needed anything at all. That meant a lot.”
That openness continued into his first day and beyond.
“She said if I could think of anything that would improve things for me or for residents who use wheelchairs, to let her know. The home is incredibly accessible, with wide spaces throughout, and even the team room and shower and changing areas are thoughtfully designed.”
That level of consideration created an immediate sense of belonging.
“From the very start, I’ve felt valued and part of the team. There’s flexibility around working hours, and it genuinely feels like people want you to succeed.”
